remove-pimple-redness

Acne is one of the most known and common skin diseases. On top of having pimples on your skin, acne can cause redness which accentuates their looks.

A reddish face due to pimples or acne can be quite unpleasant to live with and hard to deal with. The good news is that there are several ways to eliminate redness caused by pimples.

Whether you want to go see a doctor or first try some home remedies, a lot of choices are offered to you. We got you covered on the ladder, here are some tips that you can try at home to reduce the redness.

Create an aspirin paste

Redness and inflammation can significantly be reduced using the paste made from aspirin. Aspirin contains salicylic acid used for alleviating minor pain and swelling.

The inflammation of the pimple would be lessened and the pimple will dry faster.

To make the paste, crush a couple of aspirin tablets until they are completely in powder form.

Then, add one drop of water at a time until a thick paste is formed. Using a Q-tip, apply the paste on all active pimples and let it dry.

Allow it to sit for a few hours before rinsing. You may also do this before bedtime, and leave it overnight and rinse it in the morning.

Use eye drops

Look for eye drops whose main ingredient is tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride. This is the ingredient in eye drops responsible for removing the redness from eyes.

You can also use this for removing pimple redness. Just apply a few drops on a cotton ball and apply on the pimples directly.

You may also put some on a Q-tip, freeze it for a couple of hours or overnight, and then apply it on the active pimples only.

Not only will doing so decrease the redness, but the coolness will lessen the irritation as well.

Use toothpaste

Choose toothpaste that contains hydrogen peroxide, triclosan, and baking soda in its ingredients. These said ingredients have been proven to be effective in drying pimples.

Nevertheless, there is a tendency for it to cause irritation. So practice caution and do a patch test first.

Also, it is recommended to use cream toothpaste instead of gel ones.

Use Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is an extremely popular and effective antiseptic. In addition, it is also used to treat inflammatory pain, swelling, and bacterial infections.

It also makes infections heal faster, so it is great to be used on burns, wounds, and other skin injuries. Furthermore, it also relieves skin blotches, redness, and inflammation.

Use witch hazel

Another technique for relieving redness caused by pimples is to use witch hazel. Witch hazel is a shrub that possesses anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

It has tannic acid, a substance known to fight against acne and other skin conditions. The extract of witch hazel is highly effective in relieving inflammation and redness of pimples, as well as lightening scars caused by acne.

There are plenty of witch hazel products available such as toners and creams. To use, apply directly to the affected areas of your skin every morning and night.

It is normal for your skin to dry up. If you find that it’s too drying for you, you may use a moisturizer.

Apply some fresh lemon juice

Fresh lemon juice contains citric corrosive that fights the microorganisms that trigger pimples and acne.

It has also been shown by a number of studies that this substance is also able to lighten skin as well as decrease redness.

Take a piece of cotton ball and soak it in freshly squeezed lemon juice. Apply it to the affected areas before you sleep.

There is no need to rinse. It shouldn‘t be done every day, especially if you have sensitive and reactive skin.

Doing this will not give instant results, but you should be able to see improvements gradually.

Use Ice cubes

You are probably already aware that ice is highly effective in reducing inflammation.

If you ever got a bruise by accidentally bumping your head or knee, the first thing that has been recommended to you was probably to apply ice on the area to reduce the swelling.

You can do the same for pimples. Inflamed pimples are reddish and sometimes painful as well.

Get rid of the inflammation and you get rid of the redness as well. To use this method, take a few ice cubes and wrap them with a piece of clean cloth such as a handkerchief.

Then, apply it onto the pimples directly. There is no need to put too much pressure to avoid popping the pimples.

If the pimples get popped, the redness will only worsen and may leave a mark after the pimple heals.

The cold temperature of the ice will limit the blood flow to the affected areas, therefore reducing the redness and inflammation.

Use soaked tea bags

Tea bags contain tannin, a substance proven to be effective in decreasing inflammation. This is why it is also a popular treatment for eye bags and puffy circles.

To use this method, take a tea bag and soak it in warm water for at least a minute. Remove it from the water and squeeze out any extra water.

Allow it to cool slightly to not burn your skin. Once cooled, apply the tea bag onto the affected areas and allow to sit for a few minutes.

You can also put it in the freezer for a couple of minutes or a few hours to apply it cool or even cold. The combination of tannin and cold is known to be effective to reduce the swelling.

Prevention

There is a saying that prevention is better than cure. The abovementioned techniques are effective in reducing redness caused by pimples.

However, it is still much better to prevent the pimples from appearing in the first place. You can do this by following a good and regular skin care routine.

Never touch your face.

This is the number one rule when it comes to skin care. You will always get tempted to pop or prick a pimple.

However, doing this will only make the bacteria spread to the other parts of your skin. This will result in more pimples.

Whatever germs or bacteria is on your hands will be directly transmitted to your skin and may cause the condition to worsen.

Always remove makeup.

Before you cleanse your face, you need to completely remove any trace of makeup. Leaving any makeup will cause clogged pores.

Clogged pores are known to be the cause of acne breakouts.

Cleanse your face regularly.

It is recommended to clean your face twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening before going to bed.

Always use lukewarm water. Do not rub your skin too hard. Do it gently, massage your skin for better results.

In addition, use a gentle cleanser, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin. Some cleansers are harsher than others. Find one that works for you and stick to it.

Use a moisturizer.

If you keep your skin hydrated, it will prevent dryness that can cause irritations.

Go for a moisturizer that does not clog pores.

Gel-based moisturizers are better than cream-based ones but the moisturizer has to be adapted to your type of skin in order to work right for it.
